Coronavirus Precaution Change

Dear friends,

In an effort to keep our staff and clientele safe, all our classes and private sessions are being offered virtually via Zoom As we move into fall, the daytime classes will still be offered outdoors in-person in addition to virtual. Classes are priced as usual from $8-$12 and we ask that you sign up ahead of time on our website or through the free MindBody App if possible. There is also a $49 monthly class card available that runs 30 days from the purchase date. This “all-access class pass” makes you a member and eligible for discounts for massage and massage packages.

Massage
Thai and TuiNa sessions are still taking place outdoors on our screened-in platform as weather permits. All treatments are available inside the massage room, with windows open and with a UV air purifier. Safety protocols are in effect. See Jonathan’s schedule and request a time through MindBody.

If you are attending class in person, please bring everything you may need for your comfort such as yoga mat, blanket or sheet, water, bug spray, sunscreen, etc. If you are attending virtually, Zoom links are available below.
There is a different link for each class, so just click on the one you want to attend at the appropriate time to join. (The link for that particular class will remain the same week to week.)

When attending virtually, you pay per screen, not per person, so others in your household may attend as well.

Troubleshooting Tips for Virtual Classes:

  • Sign up ahead of time for class if possible. If not, arrive 10 minutes before class to give your info to the teacher and/or to settle any payments.
  • If you have used Zoom before, just click the link for your class above and you will be directly taken to the class and be ready to go.
  • If you are new to Zoom, check it out on your computer first to see if you need to download any software. If you are using a smartphone or ipad, you need to download the app.

Here’s what to expect:

  • You will be on camera so that the teachers can see and respond to you and your needs. If you prefer to not be on camera, you may turn off that feature after checking in, just know that the teacher won’t be able to speak to you personally.
  • Please set up your camera in a way that the teacher can see you during the practice or adjust it accordingly depending on whether you are seated, lying down or standing.
  • Our teachers will be planning sequences that require no additional props or only things that could be generally found at home. If you have your own props such as yoga blocks and blankets, please feel free to use them.
  • Once practice begins, everyone will be muted, so there will be no external noise, only the instruction by the teacher. If you have a question, you can wave (or unmute yourself) to get the teacher’s attention.
  • You will be able to make the teacher the only screen you see or you can have a gallery view to see all your other class mates.

Eastern Livity is a space for community and inquiry created by the husband and wife team Jonathan Steinberg and Holland LeDelia. We are a holistic wellness center in Northeast Arkansas dedicated to sustainable living. We bring Eastern modalities/ways of life including Yoga, Meditation and Thai Massage to The Natural State.

Livity means Life Force or Way of Life.

We currently offer group classes, private equipment sessions and massage.

Future plans include cabin and accommodations for retreats-long and short term stay- and adding more aspects of wellness including nutrition and art/music/theatre.

Melding East Coast attitude and Southern charm, we are open to ALL on the path to high vibrational living.

Holland LeDelia

Holland LeDelia

Owner, Yoga, GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS®, & Pilates Instructor
Born and raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Holland spent most of her early life right on the same plot of land where Eastern Livity’s main building is currently under construction! She is happy to return to the South after more than a decade of calling New York City home. Holland earned her full STOTT PILATES® Certification in 2004 as she simultaneously graduated with a degree in Musical Theatre from Missouri State University. Since then, she has been lead further into the field of wellness and in 2011 received her 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Certification from Yoga to the People NYC. She has been fortunate enough to practice many styles of yoga (Hot, Power, Vinyasas, Hatha, Dynamic Hatha, Anusara, Restorative) with teachers all over the US and draws from her experiences to find what most helps her students deepen their Yoga practice.

In 2013, Holland and Jonathan joined forces and began to live a Zero Waste Lifestyle in St.Thomas, USVI, and continued to carry what they learned with them wherever they traveled or lived. Now they enjoy sharing what they learned with others and they feel that caring for the Earth and living in harmony with nature is at the core of Easter Livity.

Holland has completed additional training in Pre/Post–Natal Yoga (Prenatal Yoga Center NYC 2013) and Meditation (World Yoga Center NYC 2013/14).

Holland completed training in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® exercise and is excited to be one of the first to bring these methods to the South! Most recently she completed her 300-hour Advanced Yoga Training through Circle Yoga Shala at Jane’s House of Well–Being in St. Charles, Mo.

She currently loves spending time in her garden and is learning how to care for it organically, and is experimenting with foraging wild foods. She is a member of the Jonesboro Chamber Green committee and Vice President of the NEA Master Naturalist organization.

Jonathan Steinberg

Owner, Yoga Instructor, Massage Therapist
Jonathan became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in 2010 and has been practicing across the country and the Caribbean ever since. In New York City, he trained in Swedish Massage, Tui Na (a technique derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine), Therapeutic/Rehabilitative, Pre/Post Natal, and Thai Massage. After completing his Thai Massage training in NYC, he moved to Thailand to continue his education with his teacher’s teacher! Jonathan has had the privilege of utilizing all these techniques in many different settings, such as Doctor’s offices, Physical Therapy Clinics, spas and fitness centers, as well as working remotely giving chair massage at many corporate events and health fairs.

Jonathan, or “J,” is excited to bring the East Coast Class and the New Jersey pride down to Arkansas and Eastern Livity! He spent the first few decades of his life on the East Coast growing up and having many adventures, including going to school for acting, before he finally met his wife, Holland, and started the creative journey of a business and life down South.

Jonathan has a gift for helping people address their physical issues–whether they are due to injury, stress, neglect, or over work. Clients can expect an open, laid back dialogue and atmosphere with the intent of achieving goals and leaving refreshed and relieved.

Kim Childers

Yoga Teacher
Kim Childers embodies lifelong learning and commitment to wholeness and healing. Her love of body mechanics began in college and her passion for understanding movement has never dimmed. She graduated from Arkansas State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education, with an Exercise Science emphasis. She brings teaching experience from multiple backgrounds; gym classes, personal training, kickboxing, yoga, and pilates. More recently, she earned her Mat I and Mat II certifications through Power Pilates (2015) before beginning training with her yoga teachers, Matt and Holly Krepps. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training (2016) followed by her 500 hour teacher training (2017), both at Circle Yoga Shala in Jasper, Arkansas. Her zeal to learn and help others continues as she is currently training to become a Yoga Therapist.

Kim’s training paired with her welcoming and compassionate personality give her the ability to teach a wide range of yoga classes and styles. From meeting therapeutic needs to challenging performance athletes, she offers a practical approach to students through conscious minded movement. She aims to incorporate natural and functional movement into each class; and after attending Kim’s classes, you will likely find yourself recalling information from class and applying it in your everyday life.

Dynamic Hatha Yoga Instructor

Mika is a native of NE Arkansas and began her yoga journey with a home practice at the age of 16. Eventually, she was driven to teach and in 2013 got her 200 Hour certification to teach Dynamic Hatha Yoga from her teachers, Matthew and Holly Krepps, at CircleYoga Shala in Jasper, AR. She has been teaching ever since! Mika believes discovery of the true self lies in compassion,  mindfulness,  and practice and hopes to assist students in finding their own path as well as their own practice. Mika’s classes are an offering for any individual to practice self inquiry while challenging themselves  mentally,physically, and emotionally.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga is specifically designed for mother’s to be and is also open to postnatal practitioners looking to ease their way back into their former yoga practice. This class is excellent for mind, body, and baby. You will have a chance to be with other expecting mother’s and freely discuss issues and concerns as well as the happiness and excitement that you may be experiencing as you move through the various stages of pregnancy. We will address common aches and pains and use postures that will aid in digestion, help circulation, increase your day to day comfort. Yoga can help alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica.

This practice will also calm your mind and reduce stress, help you find balance emotionally, and give you time to connect with your body and your baby.

Open to all stages of pregnancy. No prior yoga experience necessary.

Join Naturopathic Doctor and Owner of Jonesboro Health Food, Amanda Yates, and Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher and Owner of Eastern Livity, Holland LeDelia, as they give you expert tips on various subjects throughout the year.

Usually performed in 5–15 minute sessions, a chair massage is an excellent addition to your event or office! Jonathan will bring all the supplies needed to care for your guests or to treat your employees. He will choose the appropriate modality for each individual–from Swedish, Tui Na, Thai, Pre/Post Natal. The recipients will leave refreshed and de-stressed.

Healing Table Massage

Swedish Healing Treatment

Swedish Healing Treatment: A therapeutic massage where Jonathan assesses the client’s needs and goals and uses his knowledge of different healing techniques to achieve the desired results. The treatment may include Thai stretches, Tui Na or Deep Tissue techniques combined within a relaxing Swedish fashion. This massage takes place on the table, organic coconut oil is used and the client decides, based on their comfort, the clothing they will wear.

Prenatal Massage

Pre/Post Natal Massage

Prenatal Massage has many benefits for expecting mothers. Not only does it relieve stress and anxiety, but it can help ease the discomforts that come along with each stage of pregnancy. Prenatal massage can help increase circulation which helps with edema (swelling), can relieve leg cramps, back and neck aches, headaches and carpal tunnel pains. It can also be used to help prepare for birth by softening tight abdominal and oblique muscles.
Postnatal Massage offers many of the same stress-relieving benefits with the added intention of healing post birth.
Expecting mother’s can discuss with Jonathan the type of massage they would like. Currently, choose between Tui Na on the table (lie face down with the pregnancy massage bolsters), or Thai Massage on the futon mat. Wear comfortable clothing for both.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient healing modality, sometimes referred to as “lazy man’s yoga”! It consists of muscular compressions, stretching and joint mobilization. It is performed on a futon mat while wearing comfortable clothing. No oil involved.

It can reduce stress, improve circulation, flexibility, & range of motion, center your mind & body, and release blocked or stagnant energy as well as stiff muscles. It is relaxing and therapeutic.

Tui Na Massage

Tui Na (Twee Nah) Massage

Tui Na is a “pinch & pull” massage technique derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Client receives treatment on a massage table, fully clothed, while practitioner manipulates the muscles & tendons along their body’s meridian lines. An excellent compliment to anyone’s physical and/or mental therapeutic goals.

GYROKINESIS® Method

The GYROKINESIS® method is a movement method that involves standing, sitting on a stool and floor sequences to gently work the entire body. Using spinal articulations and movements that are rhythmic and undulating, energy pathways are opened, the nervous system is stimulated, and ranges of motion are increased. This practice creates functional strength, frees the body from tension and stress and gives an overall sense of peace and balance.

GYROKINESIS® classes can be adapted to fit anyone’s ability. People from all walks of life including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens, and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability take GYROKINESIS®  classes. By the end of a GYROKINESIS® session, one’s entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance.

STOTT PILATES®

Matt Pilates

Matt Pilates

Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. STOTT PILATES is a progressive approach to principles of the late Joseph H. Pilates’ work by incorporating modern knowledge about the body. Mat Pilates is practiced on a mat on the floor and can involve different small props, such as fitness circles, inflated or weighted balls, and flex bands. Pilates is mind-body movement or intelligent exercise. Each class is a systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns that can be geared toward the essential, intermediate or advanced practitioner. Benefits include longer, leaner muscles, core strength and stability, and relief from stress and back pain.

Eastern Livity currently offers private Pilates sessions on the following specialized equipment: STOTT V2 Max Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze Table, and Stability Chair. When working one–on–one, clients can expect to gain strength, flexibility, and endurance without risking injury or building bulk. The sessions are tailored to each individual’s needs and goals. The result will be a balanced body that looks fit, feels revitalized and moves with ease. Other benefits include injury prevention, improved balance and coordination and heightened mind-body awareness.

Eastern Livity will host lively parties in celebration of the Full Moon and the changing of the seasons!
At all of these events, you can expect to find yoga, meditation, live music or drumming, light refreshments and other seasonal fun like bonfires in the winter and outdoor practice in the summer.

Partners Workshop

Partners Workshop

Join Holland and Jonathan for this special two-hour Partner’s Workshop. They are passionate about teaching others to laugh, play, show love, to take care of each other & to cultivate intimacy through this workshop.Spend time deepening your connection to your friend or loved one. No prior experience necessary! Come with an open mind and heart and enjoy this fun and healing practice.

Through yoga and other techniques, Holland will teach you to breathe, stretch, balance and increase trust and flexibility with your partner. Jonathan will guide you in the release and relaxation that comes from Thai massage as he teaches you to both give and receive a sequence with your partner. Thai Massage is a stretching and pressing modality performed on the ground in comfortable clothing and is an excellent compliment to all yoga practitioners.

Mala Making

Mala Making

Join Mika and Holland for a fun, creative, and meditative afternoon creating your very own Mala necklace. A Mala necklace is not only a lovely piece of jewelry, but also a powerful tool for meditation. Mala, or Japa Mala, is the Sanskrit word for these ancient prayer beads that have been used for centuries across the world and amongst many religions.

In this workshop, all your supplies will be provided for you and you will have the choice of natural wood and seed bead varieties of Rudraksha, Bodhi, Jerusalem Olivewood, Sandelwood, Redwood and Rosewood. We will teach the traditional technique of knotting between each bead or you can choose to string without knots. If you have bead or pendants that are special to you that you would like to incorporate into your Mala, you are welcome to bring them. This will be a fun afternoon and also meditative with the repetitive practice of stringing the beads.

You will also receive instruction on how to use your completed necklace for mediation or prayer and will be able to bring it back to EL for future Mala Mediation practices!

All Mala supplies and light refreshments included.

Pyramids Of Power

Pyramids Of Power - Soft Tissue Release/Recovery

The Pyramids of Power (named by Jonathan!) are a handmade, wooden tool that he came across while studying massage in Thailand. He brought one home with him and continued to perfect it’s use for soft tissue release and now he has made a variety of them from our own trees in order to share this great recovery tool with a group.

Using Yoga and Thai Massage techniques, this workshop will teach you how to give yourself your own “deep tissue” massage! This is a great tool to use for recovering from athletic workouts or vigorous running and cycling routines. Stubborn, persistent issues like migraines, plantar fasciitis and shin splints will be addressed as well as general discomfort caused by tight muscle groups like calves, quads and pecs.
The Pyramids of Power will help increase flexibility, improve body awareness and generally get you moving better and with ease. They will help you help yourself!

Space is limited. Pre–registration is required to reserve your spot in the 2 hour workshop. There will be an option to purchase your own Pyramid of Power for $50.
